I have but one, and only one word to describe this article: Trollbait. That's the word used to describe a topic posted at a BBS that the poster knows will cause a flame war on the board, get a lot of people all riled up, and get them to post angry responses. That is what this is.

You think that Alabama football is all that you describe and worse? The fans of the Premier League football (soccer) in England are worse than the people in this article; the people don't destroy the town, rape girls, and act like assholes half as much as the fans of British football do (European League football fans are just as worse, so much so that most World Cups have tons of security equal to that of the G20 Summits.)

Don't believe me? Read this book Bill Buford, and you will see the light. Better yet, here's the Wikipedia article on the book:

Among the Thugs: The Experience, and the Seduction, of Crowd Violence is a 1990 work of journalism by American writer Bill Buford documenting football hooliganism in the United Kingdom.
Buford, who lived in the UK at the time, became interested in crowd hooliganism when, on his way home from Cardiff in 1982 he boarded a train that was commandeered by supporters coming from a football match. He spent the next eight years going to football matches, befriending supporters, and witnessing riots, resulting in this book.

Experiences

Buford is in several riots, notably in Turin and at the 1990 World Cup in Sardinia. He attends many games in the UK, spending time mostly with a group of Manchester United fans who refer to themselves as the Inter-City Jibbers. He goes to several National Front (NF) gatherings, as he regards the NF supporters as having a number of traits in common with football hooligans, one of which turns violent. He is beaten up twice by the police, once when caught with the rioting English supporters in Sardinia, where he was beaten for several minutes. He relates both first-hand and second-hand reports of hooligan violence, ranging from beatings to stabbings to a supporter biting out the eye of a police officer.

Thesis

Buford does not offer a conclusive explanation for why he thinks that this violence occurs. However, he does write,

I was surprised by what I found; moreover, because I came away with a knowledge that I had not possessed before, I was also grateful, and surprised by that as well. I had not expected the violence to be so pleasurable....This is, if you like, the answer to the hundred-dollar question: why do young males riot every Saturday? They do it for the same reason that another generation drank too much, or smoked dope, or took hallucinogenic drugs, or behaved badly or rebelliously. Violence is their antisocial kick, their mind-altering experience, an adrenaline-induced euphoria that might be all the more powerful because it is generated by the body itself, with, I was convinced, many of the same addictive qualities that characterize synthetically-produced drugs.

He also suggests that crowds cannot be incited to violence against their will, contrary to the belief that otherwise pacific crowds can be stirred to violence by a persuasive leader. Buford also argues that those in a crowd collectively make the decision whether or not to cross thresholds of violence.
In 2008, Richard Danzig, former student of political guru Michael G. Kimber and a senior advisor to President of the United States of America Barack Obama, claimed that a lesson could be learned about terrorists by studying football hooligans. Referring to Among the Thugs, Danzig states that "one of the best books I’ve read on terrorism in recent years is not about terrorism at all. [Buford] describes the most appalling examples of soccer violence by fans against fans. But he describes with relentless honesty how he finds sickening things attractive. He says violence lets the adrenaline flow; it’s like sex, you live in the moment.

Among the Thugs: The Experience, and the Seduction, of Crowd Violence

Get ahold of this book, read it, and then come back and tell me that Crimson Tide is worse than this.

This is my favorite comment in a while. The message being: "Because you're not into some dumb shit, you're dumb! There are all kinds of dumb motherfuckers that like dumb shit for sociologically questionable reasons that don't make it their professed life agenda to destroy humanity even though they're unconsciously doing so! You fucking fag-ass piece of shit!" I must say I'm into nigs that're way into Ron White but anti-Bush. You know, I'm just way into crazy shit. I used to do a lot of acid.

I'm a liberal, a University of Alabama student (Finance major, French minor), and a huge fan of Alabama football. I blame Bush for a lot of things, and I'm still a Ron White fan. Are there any more just plain normal people out there? I don't understand why everyone has to be so polarized in their opinions. Nothing has to be as black and white as everyone thinks. I like budwieser and Bill Maher, that doesn't mean I can't drink a Coors and watch a few minutes of Hannity. If you really want to come off as a worldly, well rounded, intellectual person of any merit you won't try to put down everything your opposed to with big words and sarcasm. UA is a great school and of course there's a lot of collared shirt douche bags, but there's also a lot of long haired guys with misfits shirts. I for one have a few books on Alabama football on my coffee table right now, right next to the last few months of Juxtapoz magazine and a Chuck Palahnuik novel. Generally the student section at the stadium is sectioned off into different groups. (fraternity's, student org's, etc). It's really not as 'fucked up' as you make it out to be. Roll Tide!

Also, my favorite part of this article is how you bash Alabama for intolerance and then say Alabama Football is evil because you don't like it or understand it.

WOW! I didnt read all of theses posts or all of this story but what I did read Is FUCKING CRAZY. Who are any of you to judge someone by their cover or for what the believe in. Ive been in the military and Ive been around the world also. The picture of the lady with the painting on her, do u know this lady, do you know if shes had a bad life, have you not ever done something wild or crazy to ease the stress of life. I've been to plenty of places where women have had body paint on and almost nothing more. So the lady was doing something wild fun even though it might seem crazy to others. I do not think at the time of this picture she even cared about you or what you thought about her, she was just having some fun. I like to have fun and Im sure over 90% of world likes to have fun. So if your gonna condem soneone without knowing them. Do it in your head cause the golden rule is love others as you would love your self.
I dont know who you or what you believe in but my God say not to judge

Every spectrum of society has poor specimens that give the whole a bad image. For example, you're a poor specimen of the "i want gay marriage, socialize medicine, yay obama, sports bad, abortion good, destined for a flaming cock up the anus in hell" group.

PS. It's not Alabama's fault that while in high school a football player drug you away from from a Magic/Dungeons & Dragons Game, beat you severely and then pissed on you in front of everyone thus spawning a seed of humiliation that grew into extreme prejudice for sports and athletes. Piss off you leftist douche bag!
